billy and a couple hundred of his closest friends squeezed into don's mixed drinks on friday november, 19th to say goodbye to don's before its upcoming closure. some of billy's buddies started their evening across the street at brother's bbq. billy's guests who got to don's early were greeted by our landmark hostess amber.
amber
and the floppy treat boys
amber handed out floopy treats for all of the early
birds the early birds got little birds of their own, pink flamingo head boppers! looking across the space at don's, all one could see was a sea of pink. don's has been a landmark in the denver bar scene for 57 years and billy's friends helped make history. on our party night, don's antique cash register rang up more liquor than any night ever in don's 57 year history! billy's friends drink you know! the staff kept running out of glasses left and right for most of the night. an extra bartender was even called in to help billy and friends quench their thirst. dj billy even took over the digital jukebox with none other than "its raining men". some of billy's newest friends from october's priscilla bus trip to the corn maze even showed up… the staff and board members from the denver botanic gardens! the botanic gardeners even ended up with queer bar tattoos!
billy bids farewell to don's
don's staff was presented with
billy's exclusive "farewell flamingo" statue as our goodbye to don's. billy's farewell flamingo is still proudly on display at the bar today! not only did billy and friends paint don's pink, everyone there looked pretty in pink!
